While on the subject of firings and bloodbaths…

… its nice to see Glenn Roeder, manager of Norwich City FC, taking the January transfer window as an opportunity to get rid of a number of under-performing players. He’s actually done a marvellous job since joining the club in the autumn, bringing in some great players on loan to fire up the incumbents and made it clear he’ll be ruthless if they don’t perform. And generally, besides some truly lethargic finishing, they are.

Still, the club are barely above the Championship relegation zone, so the danger is clear, yet the future looks far more promising than that mentioned below…
