Day 20: Back to San Francisco; Goodbye car!

The drive back to San Francisco from Point Montara was uneventful (besides the confusing muddle of freeways), apart from having to say farewell to our trusty hire car. Once we’d dropped it off, it felt like we’d left something behind and felt a bit lost without it. Strange how you can become attached to such an awful car (easy to drive it may be, but knowing which way the wheels were pointing on twisty mountain roads was tricky when the power steering felt like cotton wool – very different from the pleasant, mechanical nature of my lovely (and missed) VW Beetle).
