Starbucks came to work today, set up shop in the office and provided free lattes. Very odd. It came about since they’ turned up to the ORS office (of whom we are a part) on campus, and we kicked up a fuss as they get all the good stuff (a real office, sinks, microwaves, views, hospitable working conditions) and we get our “ghetto” of an office next to a building site.

Anyway, the Starbucks people rolled in to give the hard sell for their range of $1000 coffee machines, and promote their “ethically sourced” coffee, which can be bought at stores. All well and good, but if each store is only allocated a couple of packets of this “ethical” coffee a year, then what’s the point? Either make the statement or not.
