Tesla Roadster

The Tesla Roadster is an amazing car. There, got the drivel out of the way. I hope.

Before I leave for Canada, I was allowed a quick couple of laps in the Roadster around the track. Scary stuff, driving a $100,000 electric sports car. Scarier still when you realise that the prototype is probably worth way more than that; factor in that nearly all my driving experience has been in my old VW Beetle or old 1.0 litre Micras and Citroen’s and there’s more than just sweaty palms going on.

Don’t want to say too much about it, but I loved it. Stupidly fast and insistent acceleration (more so, it is instant) and utterly quiet, with not much more than a gentle whirring hum at 100mph+.  Electric cars are fun, fast and sexy; not what popular thinking suggests.

It has been exciting being involved, as green issues start sinking into people’s awareness and the big car makers (along with the US government) appear either uninterested or deeply sceptical.
