They come from Motherwell and manage to include all my favourite elements of songs: slightly off-key and miserable sounding Scottish vocals, some nice vintage broadcast samples and a delightfully slow banjo. They’ve apparently been together as band for a decade or so, but only managed to release an album in 2005. The tracks below come from their latest release, a mini album on WeePOP entitled Virgin Lips.
What is it about Scottish voices and saying things like “I just want my share of kisses” that gets me?
These Boots… is an entertainingly depressing tale of, well, obsessive stalking. Rummage through other people’s bins at your peril….
